[P] Frame Refuses To End

Post by Sheika »

Hi: I have a serious problem. It seems quite simple: one frame from my case is set to wait 1000ms (one second), but instead of proceeding to the next frame it stands still... in the same frame... forever.

Any ideas on why?

First, please don't use pun names in your bug report title. The title is very important for Unas and me to see what bug you're reporting at a glance.

This could be anything from a bad text tag to a problem on the next frame, to something I don't even know about. Like the rules for reporting bugs say, I need a link to investigate further. Please add me as a playtester onto your trial, and then give me the link to it.

Done. It's frame 152, right in the prologue. Editor link, player link.

The problem is in frame 38, right after frame 152. You tell the game to hide a fourth piece of evidence, but you don't tell it what that fourth piece is, so the game doesn't know how to continue. Define the fourth piece of evidence to show, or remove the command to hide a fourth piece of evidence.

Oh, it was revealing, not hiding. Thanks anyways!

I don't think that makes a difference for this bug. Let me know if that doesn't fix it.

It did: the problem is just the item identity, it seems.

Oddly, now I have a problem that I suspect is of the same genre. The same case: frames 102 and 150 are joined, and 150 is set to show an item onscreen: when I playtest, the player doesn't proceed to 150 and stays at the end of 102. I checked and both 150's and next frame's pieces of evidence are well defined.

Are you sure? According to your trial, 102 comes before 150. That contradicts "the player doesn't proceed to 102 and stays at the end of 150."

Oh-- sorry. Got them mixed up. The problem stands, however.

It works just fine for me. Try restarting the browser, and let me know if that works.

Tried reloading the playtester 3 times, and it didn't work. Surprisingly enough, it fixed after saving the game then re-playtesting. Odd.

Well, that was my last doubt. Thanks! I'll surely run into more bugs as history progresses.

BTW, as a final note, I rebember something about a timed frame that redirected into another one like 20 frames forward with no order to do so, but when I set the frame's timer to 0 is went back to normal.

Happy weekend! (if it is so at your time zone)
