Spoiler : :
Athena from 2nd Apollo's portion is visible only when you examine the area, she isn't visible on the top screen. But I don't know if this is intentional or not ;P

The Time-Travelling Athena subplot felt weird to me. I think I found all the notes but I don't understand what it as to do with the actual story. Am I missing something ? Is it related to another case I'm not aware of ?
There are 3.
Spoiler : Spoilers as to the content of certain objects in the game :
#1 is kind of the general set-up.

#2 explains how The Fortune Teller came across his fortune and the hand-off of Magnifi's old tricks Valant had mentioned earlier in the story.

#3 explains why the trial happened as early as it did.

Now as to why I chose to present this information in this way (as in, why even bring this whole plotline of Athena's in the first place...)

well

cuz i felt like it

(that and this Athena is a reference to one of my older trials and I thought that'd be neat; and I felt it sort of fit in thematically with the whole "changing oneself", plus in general just taking jabs at Athena's portrayal in DD.)
Spoiler : :
Okay ! I did find the 3 notes but I didn't get the point of the sidequest as a whole until now. So thank you for the explanation !

Played the case. It was nice, well done.

I was wondering... Were you inspired by
Spoiler : :
the 2nd case of the Spirit of Justice?
The two trials share a lot of similarities, like (SOJ spoilers incoming)
Spoiler : :
To name a few:
Twins that do teleportation tricks
Twins that hide their secret for the sake of their show
A former Troupe Gramarye member as victim
A magician committing the murder
As for the
Spoiler : :
Athena subplot... Well... It was WEIRD, to say at least, but it still was a nice extra that covered some small details, so it was good.

No.
Spoiler : :
This was made between September 1st - 7th.
SoJ came out on the 8th and I had no knowledge on any of the cases before then, aside from the settings on some of the cases.

"SHSL unfortunate timing"

I'd considered not releasing the case at all to be perfectly honest, because there's always this dirty feeling of having something already existing that's extremely similar to what you released just a few days afterwards. But I figured I shouldn't let the work go to waste.

Well, that was extremely unlucky. What were the odds of something like that happening?

Anyway, even if the case has some similarities, it's written way differently, and the crime itself is performed in another way, so not releasing this would've been a huge waste.

Keep up the good work, i love your cases.

I liked it. I can see why this won.
Spoiler : Music, Movies, and Extras :
Nice use of Deux Ex music. I'm curious about the Phoenix Office music though.
I found Note 2(second time through) and 3(first time through). It's that first note and the computer/safe stuff that's driving me up a wall at the moment. I used to be great at Where's Waldo growing up, but now? :(

BIG EDIT: I found the password through a bad ending and remembering a strange couple of lines looking back and the safe code through exploring ALL locations. The only thing missing? That first note. I even randomly found an alternate ending that was...a thing as DeeYo so eloquently put it.

I never expected you to revisit Empty Turnabout and that version of Athena. Was kind of funny how Shadi/Zak punked her.

EDIT: Also the case kind of reminds me of the movie "The Prestige". That was the first time I experienced the "Twin trick" as it were.

Again, just passing through...

It bugged for me. Had to restart it, and now I can't examine areas properly.
Spoiler : :
I'm not sure if Athena is supposed to be examinable in the dining lounge, but I can't click on her. Also, I can't examine either the pistol or the car after talking with Ema at the crime scene, which makes it impossible to proceed.
This only happened after I had to restart the trial due to an update the game warned me about when I tried reloading an old save. Anyone have an idea what may be causing this?

Seriously DwaM, Capcom should hire you for writing the next AA game. I hope you won't stop making fan games :D

Can you post the soundtracks you used? A lot of really good music in this I'd like to listen to.

Actually to save you some time, can you link the intro song and the song that plays before you cross examine the fortune teller?

I've just started trying this case out, and so far, the 999 scenery and Mystery Room music is so well used!
I'm looking forward to seeing this case in full as I play through!

EDIT: So I finished the case!
Spoiler : :
I found all the 3 notes, and LMAO the Athena subplot! I loved it!
I got the combination to the safe, but have no clue where the password to the computer is hidden. I gotta do more sleuthing!
EDIT 2: Got the password and OMG was that just in there for fun? Or is the brain damage message relevant to the plot?
This case had such a good feeling of intrigue, well done!
