Y'know Tap already showed off Dynah's sprite before HSH even came out? (and yes, it is that one)

The new graphics certainly look impressive.
Out of curiosity, how much progress had been made for the other chapters at this point?

....^^
I plan tomorrow, but we all know how this goes... believe me, I feel extremely guilty about this no matter how much Tap tells me not to, so it'll crack sooner or later.

Scripter's announcement:
As some of you know, my most recent project, Turnabout to Ashes, was created to prepare me to wrap up HSH. I'm glad to say that plan has succeeded. So why hasn't HSH rebooted yet? Believe me when out of the million times I said I'll get to resuming scripting, this time is when I know I can pull it off, but the thing is I've just got a bit too much on my plate right now with the upcoming holidays, a significant portion of my IF gift needing to be done over, and some other stuff. I've told you all I'll resume scripting on HSH a thousand times, but I've never told you that I'm CONFIDENT I can, and that's what I'm telling you now. I just need things to calm down a little before I can. The worst case scenario is after IF, but don't worry: This project WILL come back. Anything less than that would just be done by a quitter, and one thing that you should all know about me by now is that I am not a quitter. This fangame thing has been fighting me for years and years: Through all my failed projects over the years, I never got anywhere, but I never gave up, either.
And I don't intend to start now.

~~ UPDATE ~~
I'm pleased to announce that the lovely sprites made by Aeridis for James Masterson and Dynah Frost have been implemented into Chapters 1 through to 4. Now you can enjoy the new gameplay experience with their actual designs. Similarly, the boxart which was shown off a couple of months ago has been re-sized and added into the first post with a snazzy logo. While Hope Springs is on the scripting backburner for the foreseeable future due to Turnabout Memoirs and Turnabout to Ashes, the case will be finished.

I wouldn't say on the backburner. I just need to go into Super Saiyan scripting mode again, which I haven't for a while. Got a lot of stuff to take care of tomorrow but after that I'm good so... we'll see what happens.

> endless thought bubble syndrome
A lot of trials have the tendency to have the MC ramble on and on and on and on to himself while thinking, in the middle of conversations and other times, to the point where it takes me out of the scene. Usually they are spelling out details that could be conveyed better than just having him recite a laundry list of facts. It always feels like the author is trying to justify something by having Phoenix make an excuse for it rather than feeling natural.
For instance, the part where his phone doesn't get reception and he wants to call Maya. He could have just said, "My phone isn't working. I'll use the one here." Done. Instead it's like 10 lines about how he needs to use that phone.
And I like the Umineko theme. I never played the game or watched the anime, but I have been reading the manga that has been released at Barnes and Nobles. Not sure if this is just similar in nature or directly tying into the Umineko story though.
I did notice the Masterson reference. I wonder how much of that other trial's story is canon to this.
Anyway, so far all of the different little animation touches come together to make the experience feel seamless. Like the door opening one.

That's just my writing style: I'm excessively wordy. It's a technique I picked up from DWaM.

OK, playing Part 2.
The script plays out way better when it's a conversation. That long windedness I noted is only apparent during monologues. But then I guess I did call it a "thought bubble" syndrome.
I actually remember mentioning something about your writing style in a previous case, a long time ago. Anyway, my point is it's actually fine outside of that particular instance.
Also the phone call graphics still use deKiller.
Wow I'm lucky. I did what I thought was the puzzle for the lock picking one, then thought I had gotten it wrong and picked a random one just to start over... but it worked. I bet the next time I spill something on the keyboard it will solve a puzzle.

I actually don't recall you ever commenting on my style itself, maybe I'm wrong. My style's evolved a lot since then anyway, partially because of DWaM.
Aaaannyway, lockpick tells me you're on Chapter 3, so you're almost at "that" scene.
...You'll see. Eventually. And you'll either hate it or love it, there's not really an in between here.

What I hate is having to unlock this door every time.
EDIT: Ah, you were right. I was telling it to DWaM.
Just finished Part 4.
