My Grammar

Post by DKJustice1 »

I would like to put the post on the air proving that I do understand Grammar and how it can effect a story or a writing.

Now it may not seam normal for me to use words like this but I can say this is the creative side of me coming out,
thanks to this website. However, it is does make a story even a poem better than ever.

If I make a mistake effecting the case due to my Grammar or lack of it. Therefore, ruining the trial I will go over and start treating the trials like one of my stories. This is so I can improve greatly on my Grammar.

So I am going to write a paragraph out of my story:

The door slammed causing the room to shake and Butch tugged on his collar.
This was a very bad sign, it was effecting Dani in away they had not seen before and
he saw a officer come out of her office later on that day.

" It's not good mate. she has ordered a coffee."

" White or black?"

" Black mate."

Butch turn away this was more than horrible for the second time that day he question why he had chosen his job.
It was harder that people understood being a police officer. Having to try and hold back you own emotions to try and calm
others down.

...............

How is that for Grammar I just wanted to prove it :D

Meh. Somewhat mediocre. There are these mysterious things called "commas". If you could harness their power, you would be unstoppable.

Commas are great thing to use ' as they can be used as brackets' to add extra meaning to a phrase.
:takethat:
The common commas are ofter used, as a way of break a long sentence and make list of messages such as the following:

Tomato, Apples, pears, grape and bananas.

The comma can also be used to give the object or persons' meaning like police officer become police officers'

or the police officer's wife.

The one with the comma after the S is the pleural meaning how many are there, the other way is the ' before the S means the object belongs to that person.

Such as ' The boy's coat was hot'.

This is the power of the commas' to use them to make the article easier to read and forum such as this on less tedious to read and are a breath break for the reader the same effect can be achieved with other punctuation: as I am showing here.

This is the normal way the power of the simple comma, could be used it can also be used to describe feeling in a sentence.

How was this?

Hey DK :)

Your grammar is not 100% perfect (just like the grammar from any other user here I guess, we all make mistakes), but there's some improvement that can be made, and it's very nice to see that you are motivated to progress on that field :D I myself have been learning English for 6 years. That means I didn't know almost a single word of english 6 years ago, but as you can see I'm currently fluent xP

For that matter, I'd suggest you mess around a bit more in the forums, and read some topics and participate in them as well. Browsing other forums along with Ace Attorney Online will certainly help a lot, that's how I greatly improved my English, both in vocabulary and mostly in grammar. Don't be shy and speak with the others, just like you're doing right now, keep it up :)

Pretty good. Try to be wary of having excessive amounts of commas though (called comma splice)...Man E.D. used to get real annoyed with some of my posts because I never bothered to end 10 line sentences with a period LOL

Your second example is an apostrophe, not a comma. The first way you used it is correct, you can split sentences using commas. However, as Puddin' said, try to not use so many commas.

Not a problem: It seams that I am improving all the time, This should only contain one comma and it is to show you that I am listening to all you help

Due to the sudden merge of my last post, this should contain only one comma to show that the bottom of the last post should be mine and thank for all your help.

Whoops. Sorry about that. I'd just woken up when I merged those posts, and it looked like you were both the same person. :XD: I can't bring back the post that was deleted, though, I'm afraid.

I find the merging rather amusing to see :P

@Meph, can you change the edit reason to say "Merged post (by mistake)" or something? Just so it's clear.

Just tidied the posts up somewhat.
Of course, I can't let Meph's hilarious mistake disappear, so I've amended the moderating note. :XD:

Depends what you mean by that. If you mean in a dress, then yes, it would be seams. But otherwise not.

This is a very good step you're taking. *still does not want to incur the wrath of Dypo, even though he rarely comes on anymore*
