Post by CardiaX »

Catchy titles aside, I am SUPER TICKED OFF about this! So it's time to go through this yet again, FOR THE UMPTEENTH STINKING TIME! I will post a petition here, and PLEASE sign it, and tell all of your friends, EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM, and send the link to this petition, and get them to join the fight against SOPA!

Imagine gun owners having to deal with this for decades, if not centuries.

It's up to the people that care about these types of issues to always remain vigilant on these matters.

Thanks, CardiaX!

I find it hilarious that the opposition is focusing on stuff like whether the US should pay its already incurred bills... whether they should repeal a law that's been voted years ago and found constitutional on the basis that it's against the Constitution... or whether it's a good idea to shut down the bloody US government.... but seemingly has nothing to say on these issues.

They just suffered a humiliating election loss and have this huge opportunity to find themselves on the right side of history for once, but they just don't get it. They're more determined to stop efforts designed to prevent the proliferation of war weapons on the street than to stop mass surveillance and dubious limitations of freedom of speech.

It didn't work last time, why is it going to work the fifth?

It's irritating, but I'm not too concerned at this ever passing. It's like a bill to blot out the sun: impossible to do and no one would agree to it.

^this is a dangerous generalization and not a good statement. The mpiaa/riaa would love to see this pass, and their lobbyists convince congress members that it is important enough to create this bill (because they have ACCESS to these politicians that your average American doesn't).

Never think for one moment that no one agrees, especially if it gives the government control of the world wide web. There's more incompetent folks in congress than you realize ;p

I find it ridiculous how people who are supposed to be representing citizens' position fail to do so by doing the exact opposite.

Considering that making streaming of copyrighted works a felony is the goal of this newest law, it's essentially doomed when you consider that Microsoft and Sony are both relying on built-in streaming as a big selling point of their newest consoles. That means two huge previous corporate allies of SOPA will almost certainly be shifting sides on this incarnation of it.
