Turnabout of the Century

Hey y'all! The dangerous duo Wackyman and Dypo_deLina bring you--after a long debate between your members--a competition that goes beyond, or behind, our own time.

Task
A timeline where the great Phoenix Wright is not or has yet to be the great defense attorney we know him to be, or when his protegee Apollo Justice had or has yet to carry on his legacy--yes, it's time for the court system to take a new spin! Your trial must take place at least a century forward or backward in time. What will court be like in your timeline? Have the crimes become more or less elaborate? It's up to you to decide. ;)

Conditions
  • The entry must have been created between 2011-12-27 and 2012-03-13.
  • The entry must not be showcased until 2012-03-14.
  • The entry must be either a trial or investigation. Comedy and misc. cases are not acceptable (But of course, that doesn't mean we don't like humor :P)
  • The entry may include GK2 spoilers, but I'd rather you limit it to sprite and music use only, and not the actual story.
  • The entry must take place 100 years in the past or in the future after the events of AJ (2026) (no less, yes more).
Deadline
The trial is due March 13th, 2012, 11:59 EST. It should go without saying, but PM it to us when you're done.

Considering this begins during Christmas, where everyone will most likely be going away, we may extend the deadline by a week or so if anyone requests so. Still, this is plenty of time. :P

Entrants
  • GuardianDreamer
  • ZetaAzuel & Wooper
  • Evolina deLuna & EdgeOverRuled
  • Zero Kirby
  • Gumpei & BBblader
  • Lind
Now, let's begin this outrageous competition! Begin trial making..........................
...............................
...............................
NOW-Oh, damn, hold on....
...
...OK now.

(This will be us if you drop out---> :tigre: )

March 2nd, 2011?! HOLY CRAP MY ENTRY IS ALREADY OVER 9 MONTHS LATE!

...on another note, well... I have an idea for this. But... do both conditions have to be used? Mine works really well for the "different era" one, but the prosecuting one... ngggrrr.

EDIT: I'd also like to add... I really think the comp. shouldn't be this specific. I think we should be allowed to choose with guideline we want to work with.

I mean, think about it! This practically -ruins- investigations if you want to catch the atmosphere right. There are NO backgrounds for a future setting, and there are very very few for a past one... and having to work with all of that PLUS making it a prosecutor's case just seems mad to me. It makes it extremely limiting.

This will sound extremely random, but I'm signing up. Yep. I have an idea, and I don't think it'll stop bugging me.

SLACKER!
Fixed. :P

Yeah, I kinda had my doubts about it being so specific...I'll talk about it with Dypo soon. I think I'll put up a poll on people's opinion about the theme.

EDIT: Poll added.

Well... I'm still on the side that we should be allowed to choose how we want to work with it. We can use both if we want, or only use one of them if we want. But... if we have to only keep one, then... even though it's the one that doesn't work with the idea, I'd say having a prosecutor case is going to open up the most possibilities.

Both, eh? Sound reasonable. Alright, we'll make it an and/either/or thing. I'll edit the post soon. Busy right now.

I have to join this.

I'd like to have a collaborator who wants to make an AAI Investigation (or even a Sci-Fi-Investigation) with me.

I think a case in the future or past sounds pretty neat. No reason it can't have both options though.

Have you discussed this theme with Meph? I don't believe it's normal procedure to discuss a comp theme with him, but this one seems particularly exclusive and a competition most users will be unable to participate in. As Gumpei stated, the amount of futuristic backgrounds can be counted on one hand and past is pretty much the same (EDIT: Derp), even with the various art packs and Kusanagi... :?

The first idea, of having a prosecutor case, is promising, but is that enough of a theme to base a case around? For some the answer may be "Yes", but it most likely is not for most members. Just a few thoughts...

Just would like to state that this is NOT the case. I'm absolutely dumbfounded at the massive number of medieval-centric ones there are.

Sci-fi ones, on the other hand... those have been a bit harder to come by.

Also, I would like to state that Blader and I are collabing for this competition. He says that he's doing better now, but still wishes to clear his mind... but yes, to confirm, he will be returning. But... not just yet.
