I split the topic for organizational purposes. Topics form 2009 are unlikely to be relevant in the v6 era.

Anyways, my quick tests indicate that is not the case. I looked in the developer version of AAO v6, and it looks like there is control over character appearance and disappearance animations in there. As for when that will go public, it'll be when we have enough new features to make it worthwhile. I've been meaning to do more AAO development work, so that may be sooner than "someday on AAO". In particular, I have a case idea in mind that is going to require letting AAO use something called CSS filters...
