Your Art rules
These rules apply to the Your Art forum.
  • You must showcase your art* in a single topic entitled with your username.
    • You may showcase a sprite comic or fanfiction series in a separate thread.
  • You should only post requests for art to be used for cases in the art requests topic.
    • You may post a request in a specific artist's topic, if said artist claims to accept requests in their personal topic.
    • You must not post a request from the art requests topic in a specific artist's topic. This will be considered as spam.
Note: The reverse order is accepted if the request is not taken by the artist. This use is not allowed to post it in more than 1 topic simultaneously
  • You must give credit when using art made by another person.
  • You must not use or modify other members' art without their permission.
    • This applies to the Resources Characters thread as well. You must ask for permission first. Assume all contributing artists want permission first.
    • However, if the artist is inactive, you may edit members' art provided credit is given. Activity is measured by forum posts.
  • You must not be derogatory or offensive in responding to any art, but may use constructive criticism.
  • You must upload art to a global site. Hosting sites, such as Pic-Upload.de block hotlinking images in the Asia-Pacific region. We recommend imgur and Photobucket.
* Artworks include, but are not limited to: graphics, sprites, music, etc.

Disclaimer
These rules may be updated by the administrators at any time if they are somehow incomplete. Every member undertakes to comply to the current rules each time he connects to this section.

Spoiler : Old post :
  • No stealing art. Do not use other's art(s) without permission. Do not claim credit for anything that you didn't make.
  • Post all requests in the Request Thread but please understand that the artists are under no obligation to take your requests. All requests are a mutually agreed upon deal.
  • Constructive criticism is allowed (of course...); flaming and trolling aren't.
  • If you decide to present your art here, please group all of it in a single topic, which title clearly indicate it's yours. This will help keeping the section correctly organised.
  • This is already in the general site rules, but it's worth reminding people about : content not suitable for minors is strictly forbidden. Porn or hentai will NOT be tolerated...
  • You must not edit someone's else's sprites/music/artwork for your own personal business. However, you may edit the sprite/music/artwork if it is to help the spriter (such as a mistake or flaw that the spriter hasn't noticed themselves). But, you must not be egotistical and rude if you do this.
  • If you have been using a base that you did not create, credit must be given. E.g. - Jeti's Apollo Justice sprites.
  • You must not double post (unless 12 hours have passed since your previous post).
These rules may be updated by the administrators at any time if they are somehow incomplete. Every member undertakes to comply to the current rules each time he connects to this section.

Don't forget that the English section forum rules apply.

Thank You Unas. I think you covered pretty much everything.
Also: CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. Though Unas pointed this out, I would like to say, if you want to say something about someone's art, please help it be helpful and understandable to them, so that they can make their improvements. No vauge comments please. >_O

What do you mean? :)

I don't see any need to change the current rules. ;)

Should be this.

Upload it to an image server and use the IMG or URL tags to post it in your own topic. ;)

How about a few new suggested rules, since ppl from CR are coming into AAO?

1. No Hijacking sprites. That means revamping the sprites and posting them into the original artist's thread. I've seen this done on CR a few times, and it's rude. I'm no artist, but if I were, I'd feel a little insulted.

2. A rule about using bases (similar to CR). I know nudal had said something about using sprite bases on his thread. Something about credit and permission.

Thanks for commenting, E.D.!

Those rules seem fine and I agree with you. I'll just reword them to make them clearer and them into the first post. :)

I know that. It was not in the rules at the time, and it wasn't one of the original rules established for this subforum.

Tap, there seems to be an inconsistency when it comes to doublepost rules. Can we get a clear rule on that?
