What you describe is how the parameters of how the drum sample plays have been changed to get the wet/dry effect processed for both videos. Most samples out there start out being dry in the first place, and it is up to the producer to decide if he/she wants to finetune the drums especially.
The C64's audio chipset allowed for both types of effects depending on the game that it was used in, hence why its samples (be it synth or drums) were considered high quality back then, and this was out *BEFORE* the NES ever did.

Still agree about the synths part though.

So I attempted animating this today. It's extremely messy, as it's not yet finished.
Not taking this seriously or anything, just thought I'd update this thread for once.
Might get rid of his left arm's movement, as it looks pretty stupid as is.
