Pretty good, pretty good. Like how you did the face on the first one. Simple, but effective. However, the hair seems a bit... wonky. Maybe straighten the ends of the big flaps and connect it to the rest of the hair.

Second one isn't that amazing, but it's definitely good.

Thanks! I'll try to fix the hair, although those are mostly his bangs...

Well yeah, I know that. I just meant trying to meld it into the rest of the hair more, so it hides the base better and makes it look a lot more natural.

Is there any art tool you'd recommend for this kind of OC creation? Besides Photoshop, I mean. Last I heard, I needed a subscription for it or some crap like that.

CS2 (an outdated version of adobe photoshop) is now free as well.
Since they disabled the activation server, it's now basically shareware.

Even having Photoshop myself, I'd say Paint.NET is the best tool for pixel art; there's a lot less hassle with getting your settings together for pixel art, and there's way fewer tools that are useless for pixel art.

I've heard Paint dot net is a good one to start with. It's free and seems easy to use (I don't use it just going by what others have recommended).
