Makeup Room - Ludwig

It was an in and out job. That's all it was. Ludwig drew in a deep breath and withheld the strongest urge to lift Jackie in the air the way he'd done it on the beach. He went to the nearest cabinet and grabbed a set of hair pins that matched his hair color.

As he made his way to the door, Ludwig sneered back at Jackie and growled, "Looks don't actually kill, you know." He made a point to slam the door as hard as possible as he left.

...

Outside the Gymnasium

"Jeez. She's gotta be a demon or something." Ludwig began working the hair pins into his locks as best he could while he was on the move. "That was almost unnatural." Eventually, he found his way to the gymnasium, working the final pin into his hair and hiding the rest away in the pocket of his pants. "Hey Flo. Hey..."

Ludwig stared Violet up and down. "You're that girl from class, aren't you?"

Violet turned bright red and took a step backwards. "Uh... Yes?"

Outside with the Rocket Surgeons Minus One - Xander

Xander didn't even budge an inch as the would-be punch was thrown. All he did was keep his solid, unmoving stare on Johnny. It was almost unnerving, actually. He watched with some form of silent joy (?) as Johnny immediately pulled a 180 on his attitude and pretended to be friendly. When Wulfe left to go open the gymnasium and Johnny went to unpack his gear, Xander kept his can of pepper spray and took the whiteboard in his hands again and quickly wrote something.
Image
Oh, he's asking about Jackie. Could it be that Xander knew where she was? Being a student, he probably knew some people in the school and also knew how to get around better. The fact he also addressed her as "Miss Crow" probably means he's acquainted with her at the very least.

Makeup Room - Gwendalyn:

"Well, I mean, it'd be a new experience for me, that's for sure! I've always flown completely solo. Probably going to have to be suuuper careful with how I market it, too. Me, teaming up with an underground group? And a rock group, at that... Hmm. Oh! I need you to close your eyes for me." Gwen made her way over to the sponges and stopped, fidgeting uncomfortably at the thought of her performing with a bunch of punk rockers. She grabbed a few, as well as a tray of pigments of all colors. She applied a very tiny amount of black pigment to one sponge.

"If we end up covering some Pretty Reckless, I'd totally be down! Like, not right away, of course. I might need a little time to get used to you guys... With the exception of a couple of groups and songs, rock music kinda all sounds the same to me. And it's not even the good kind of same. A few overdone guitars wail for forty seconds or something way too long before some guy either screeches or growls about the world being awful or something. Ecch." She spoke as she started adding black rings around Jackie's eyes, though before long, there was a knock at the door. Strange, considering Jackie was the last one Gwen needed to get to. Then came a masculine, booming voice.

Wait, isn't that-

And then Ludwig happened. And then Jackie happened. A few things were happening and it was suddenly really scary. Though it looked like Ludwig only needed to grab a thing. Well, that wasn't so-

SLAM.

"...Looks like someone makes a habit of waking up on the wrong side of the bed... What's his deal, anyways?" UV waltzed over to the door and inspected it. "Oh, hey! This door locks! Who'da thunkit?" She locked the door. "There! Now nobody else can disturb our... chat." Did she wink as she said that?

Wait. Did she say that weird name was her real name? Jacqueline Pemberly? "Oh, jeez! If I didn't know better, I'd have never guessed you had a real name! Though yeah, that was proooobably a good call. And your stage name's, like, waaaay better than mine, too. Like, I manage just fine, but at least Jackie Crow sounds like a real name a real person could really have, y'know?" Gwen said as she finished up Jackie's other eye. If nothing else, she was glad someone else here was also embarrassed about their real name.

"Hmm. Okay. I need you to smile for me now, but lips only. Don't show your teeth. I know it sounds like it doesn't make a big difference, but you'd be surprised!"

Outside the Gym - Flo:

Oh, hey, look! Another person! That didn't take long! Flo... wasn't sure she met this person. She was pretty sure she'd remember someone with blonde hair even longer than her own. Well, meeting people is always fun!

"Uh, hi there! I'm Violet Kingston! Who might you be?"

"Oh! Hi Violet! Most people call me Flo!" Flo looked down at the girl's costume in more detail. She thought it was waaaay better than hers. Flo's was just hastily thrown together, and technically, so was Violet's, but Flo didn't know that, and hers looked way more professionally done. Only natural, considering...

"Hey! Weren't you one of the people UV did an outfit for...? You look great! UV must be a miracle worker!"

Flo probably would've gushed a bit more had Ludwig not shown up. Ludwig's sudden appearance wasn't bad in itself, and Flo even offered a jovial "Hi!"... But looking between him and Violet... Something seemed... Off. Violet's hesitation and slow backing away didn't sit well with Flo. Her eyes rapidly flitted between the two, and for some reason she couldn't explain, and didn't even know, she could feel tension rising in the air. She didn't know what to say. Was Violet... afraid of him? That didn't make too much sense. He didn't seem that bad to her... She shrunk back a little, still unable to find her words.

Near the Front Gates

Tammy leaned forward to read Xander's note. "Tch, goddamn rich people and their #$%^ing cursive...Oh, you know the runt." She straightened up and took a puff of her cigarette. "Yeah, she's kinda technically our boss, or whatever. Lead singer, founder, what have you. Not to mention the only one with any cash lining her pockets."

"Daddy's a politician and Ma's a CEO," Sid added.

"Yeah. Guess that's how you get cozy little private schools like this," Tammy said with an annoyed grimace. "Always whining about rich people and her parents and crap, but look at this #$%^ing place. It's so glitzy you can see it from space. All she whines about it, chick's probably got more bank than most of these assholes do. What a cozy little life she's got goin' on here. Little @#$%^..."

"Eh, she's okay," Sid shrugged. "She recognizes my unstoppable skills."

"Yeah, yeah," Tammy sighed. "Yo, Waistcoat. You know where that bird brat is? We gotta show to put on at your costume whatever, supposed to pay big bucks. But Johnny's a raging asshole that thinks cracking phones on the floor isn't goddamn stupid, so we can't get in touch with the runt. And no way in hell am I roaming around this golden hellhole for an hour trying to find that #$%^&. Mind pointing us her way?"

----

Makeup Room

Once Ludwig exited the room, the atmosphere cleared up in an instant, and Jackie smiled. "Heheh, yeah, I've never been into pop stuff myself, but I might be willin' to give it a shot! You seem cool, I'm sure yer music's pretty rockin'...er, poppin'!" She didn't seem to miss a beat with the interruption.

Jackie seemed actually strangely upbeat now. A little giddy, even. Things were going her way for once. A pretty girl was doing hanging out with her, listening to her, talking about collaborating...which would be great for both business, in addition to just making her happy. There were some shaky distractions, but...this was actually going well. She couldn't believe something was actually going better than expected at this school.

Gwen handled the door...d-did she wink? Jackie tried to keep her breathing steady, but she tried to chill. She was starting to get a little comfortable here now that conversation was consistent, but she was still trying to fight with her...less than social disposition.

Gwen started taking about her name. "Yeah," Jackie said, "I didn't want somethin' that sounded too...showy. I wanted something that people wouldn't really question that still kinda fit the image. Though honestly..." Her face tensed a bit, though she tried to stay still for the eye makeup. "I mostly just wanted to get further from my goddamn parents. That's, uh, the same reason I started bleaching my hair...though I guess it looked better that way after I lobbed most of it off, anyway. They're just so..." She made a frustrated grunt sound, but eased back down when Gwen was done with her eyes. "Sorry, I'm probably ramblin' a lot. You in a similar boat with the name thing?"

She awaited an answer as she awkwardly tried to hold a toothless smile. With Gwen staring at her in the face like that, she couldn't really help but blush. She tried her best to keep her composure with someone like...looking at her directly in the face, but the amount of strain and twitching on her awkward smile was definitely doing a less than stellar job of hiding her stress.

----

Outside the Gym

"Alright, make way, make way!"

The school nurse, Lena Wulfe, approached the gymnasium with a rather excessive ring of keys in hand. Just as Xander had see her before, she had her pink hair down, letting it roughly flow to her waist, and she was wearing a roughed up pinstripe suit and a surgical mask with a toothy grin drawn on.

"I'm Nurse Wulfe, as some of you might know." She glanced at Ludwig for a moment before continuing. "I'm chaperoning tonight to make sure you kids don't do anythin' too dumb. There'll be some games, a contest, and live music featuring the uh..." She thought for a moment. "The Airplane Doctors. Or somethin'. Anyway, give me a moment to get the right key..."

"Ah, there's already some students here! And you as well, Ms. Wulfe! Excellent!"

Professor Muller approached Wulfe and the students. He was wearing a hot dog costume and had a proud look on his doggy face.

"Thank you for chaperoning with me, Ms. Wulfe," he said. "And I am ever so glad you get to see my most witty and intricately layered costume. And you have quite the costume on yourself, I see! What is it?"

Wulfe looked up from the keyring. "What costume? I thought chaperones wore formal attire." She kept flipping through the keys. "We have too many goddamn doors in this place...gimme a minute..."

As she mumbled and swore under her breath searching for the key, Muller turned towards the students. "A-Anyway! I do hope you're all ready for a good time!"

Outside with the Rocket Surgeons - Xander

The butler positioned the whiteboard a little closer to Tammy's face to make it easier for her to read. This was the second person today who had trouble reading his handwriting, but that didn't seem to bother him. The only reaction Xander managed to show was the slight tilt of the head upon hearing the Jackie's parents held such positions of power. Though the butler didn't know much about local politics, he was fairly certain that he hadn't heard about any Crows in the government. Well, not in the literal sense anyway. It seemed that even Jackie's band mates can see the irony of her ending up in a school like this.

When asked further about Jackie, Xander nodded once, looking Tammy in the eye with that gaze of his. He then turned his head to the side and pointed up to the building behind him, right to the very window he jumped out of to catch the bat. Speaking of, it seems like the little bat had taken an interest in Tammy's hairband. Its nose sniffing in the general direction of Tammy's head and its eyes seemed to sparkle looking at her.

Xander shifted to the side and motioned the two towards the entrance of the building. Perhaps he wanted to escort you?

Outside Makeup Room

Job blinks.

And then blinks again.

Confusion runs up Job's head, as someone in a tux walks past her and into the makeup room, only to be screamed right out.

Job holds out her hand to call to the individual, but unfortunately he seemed completely oblivious to her action.

Unsure of what exactly to do, Job follows the suited man.

------------------------------------------

Campus

Lia looked at Isabelle concerned.

She was suddenly a lot more red in the face and she seemed to almost drop her bags.

Lia swallowed nervously. Did she do something wrong?

"Um...If it's okay, I'll attend, just gotta throw somethin together." Lia says, trying to lighten things up again.

Before long, Lia came to a stop in front of a large building.

A plaque was next to the door reading: "Student Dorms"

Lia sighs out, still oblivious to the pastel in her hair, and smiles to Isabelle.

"Guess we're here!"

------------------------------------

Gymnasium

While Wulfe fiddles around with her keyring, the gym door suddenly opens from the inside of all places.

And out of the opened door walks.... the blue haired maid. Pushing her supply cart before her, out the door and letting it fall closed behind her without a second thought.

Seeing Wulfe, Jenny raises a confused eyebrow to the nurse, "Oh? I wasn't expecting you so soon Nurse Wulfe."

"Never the less. I have finished setting up for the costume party." Jenny says, with a hint of haughty pride coating her words, "If I may say, I believe you shall find no trouble at all with the decor. Now, if you'll excuse me."

With that, Jenny rolls her cart away.

The work of a ghost maid is truly never complete.

------------------------

Outside the Gym

Job arrives, confused as to what everyone is doing here.
Never speak in absolutes. (Which is a round about of saying I came back. Hi.)

Makeup Room - Gwendalyn:

"Oh. My stage name? This is gonna sound really lame, but I came up with it and ran with it because it sounded good at the time. Like, I'm sure there are a lot of better names I could've used, but I'm in it for the long haul as UV. Nothing I can do about that now!" Gwen giggled a bit, and Jackie smiled like she told her to. Gwen, in return, had the most natural response one could have in this situation.

She made a noise somewhere between a squeal of delight and a giggle.

"Eeeeeeheeeee!! Your smile is so cuuuute! Hold on! I gotta get a pic!" UV dashed toward the bags at an almost inhuman speed and retrieved her phone out of the pink one, aiming it at Jackie, sparkly red phone case in plain view. She snapped a picture as quickly as she could while Jackie was still making that face, and dropped it back in the pink bag.

"Okay, done with that. I'll let you look at that later. Back to business. Hold that face as best you can." She took her sponge and applied pigment around Jackie's lips, following her smile. She added two big curves around Jackie's cheeks, careful not to interfere with her star tattoo, and another curve beneath her bottom lip. Satisfied, she threw away that sponge and grabbed a new one, dabbing this one in a shade between pink and purple.

"So... This might be prodding a little too much, but I feel like I've heard the name Pemberly somewhere vaguely, but I can't for the life of me remember where. What do your parents... do, exactly? If it's not too much trouble, that is!"

Outside the Gym - Flo and Jazmine:

A pair of coppery high heels slowly made its way to the gymnasium. Just a couple more steps, and she'd be there. There were already a number of people there. Flo, some girl in a bright orange pixie outfit with just a little too much sparkle, another girl done up in revealing purple and gold... Mueller dressed as a hot dog. Jazmine rolled her eyes behind her mask, though Flo found it kinda funny, and she suppressed a guffaw. Mueller and Jazz showing up eased some of the tension Flo had just felt, though the Nurse unsettled her a little. It was quite the odd feeling.

Jazmine had also noted Ludwig was here, and certainly dressed up, but Jazmine wasn't quite sure as who or what. Probably some kind of bartender or jazz musician? She didn't know anything else that would wear a bow tie and a vest like that, but it was better than what the other girls save for Wulfe had on. That was okay.

"Hm. Looks like I made it just in time."

Outside the Gymnasium - Violet and Ludwig

Violet registered that Flo was saying something, but not what she was saying. Seeing Ludwig was just terrifying to her. He was aggressive and scary! But the longer Violet stared at him, all dressed like a nice bartender, she recognized that he was quite handsome.

Ludwig's face twisted in confusion and then he said, "Uh, thanks?"

Violet blinked in surprise. "Huh? What?"

"You were talking out loud. And you were saying that I was handsome. ... You look pretty, too, I guess."

Violet's face started heating up and she covered her face out of embarrassment. "Oh my gosh! I was talking out loud?!"

While Violet was having a mini-meltdown, Ludwig waited. Eventually, Professor Muller, Nurse Wulfe, Job, and Jazmine eventually came along. A staff member popped out of the gymnasium, opening it up after Wulfe had struggled to open it.

"Hey Jazmine," Ludwig said as casually as he could. "You look...um, nice. Are you dressed as something specific or just a general thing?"

Outside the Gym

Wulfe, increasingly tired of flipping through keys, nearly had an ulcer when Jenny walked out...without leaving the door open.

"W-Wait, what the hell?!" She tried pulling at the door, to no avail...already auto-locked. "Dammit, how the hell did she...?!" She yanked at the door some more. "What, did she float in or somethin'?! Grrrraugh!"

The nurse angrily turned back away from the door and started flipping through keys again, grumbling to herself. She briefly paused as she heard the students flirting around her. She took a look at the apparently "handsome" guy, giving him a quick scan with her eyes. "Tch. Baccano's better." She then returned to checking the keys.

----

Makeup Room

Jackie's feeling of embarrassment with a pretty girl staring at her face was quickly melting into a feeling of utter pain as her face started to go numb. She was still flustered at being called "cute" (though admittedly she'd usually deck anyone calling her that) but she was struggling to much with the increasingly difficult to maintain smile that she kinda started to forget about that. The pained twitching at the ends of her lips was just about all she could think about, even through the squealing and the makeup.

When Gwen finally asked her a question, Jackie was happy to answer just so she could take a big gulp of breath.

"Gah..." Jackie basked in the ability to stretch her mouth for a moment before continuing. "Tch, they sit around bein' assholes all day, that's what," she spat. "But I'm guessin' that ain't what yer askin'. Father's some bigshot politician or somethin'. I don't know what the hell he's doin' there nowadays, but I guess he's a big deal or somethin'. Mother's a CEO of...Iunno, somewhere. I don't remember. People don't know her as much, I guess, but she makes more money than Father, I guess." There was a poison on her tongue as she spoke. "Ya probably heard about Father somewhere or other...Iunno what he's at but he always aims big. Guess they gotta focus on somethin' if not..." She trailed off into silence.

Makeup Room - Gwendalyn:

"Right! Politics..." Gwen's nose wrinkled in visible disgust. "Ewww... I know I need to care more about that kind of stuff, but I can't afford to care. Too much controversy, y'know? I'm glad it's never really come up for me. I wouldn't know what to do other than keep spouting 'NO STRONG OPINION,' and slowly backing for the door!"

She giggled some more as she started coloring in Jackie's tattoo using her pink-purple pigment, biting her lip. She could tell the ice she was skating on was much thinner than before. She could keep pursuing this topic. After all, Jackie was quite willing to talk about it, it seemed. Though it didn't seem to be a topic Jackie liked, and if there was one person she needed to keep happy... well, that chick with the metal hands would probably take the cake, but Jackie was a close second...

Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Here we go.

"So it sounds like pretty stormy seas between you and your parents..." UV's voice suddenly held a certain tone of concern. "Have things always been like that?" She removed her sponge. The outline created by Jackie's tattoo had been completely filled in.

Outside the gym - Flo and Jazmine:

"You look... um, nice."

"Ever the charmer, as always." Jazmine shot Ludwig a smirk and a sharp exhale and lowered her mask with a flick of her wrist. She was still wearing her glasses underneath, the blue rims sticking out like a sore thumb against her extravagant, copper-colored gown. Despite her usual snark, she could feel herself going slightly pink in the face due to the compliment.

"What, have you never seen someone going to a masquerade before? Truth be told, I figured there'd only be one person here not dressed up as something stupid, and it might as well be me. And looking at all our guests so far..." Jazmine flicked her mask back against her face. "...It looks like I was mostly right. Though you don't look bad, yourself." She took a side glance at Violet, who was also red in the face from talking to the same person. Figures she wasn't the only one who found him good-looking.

I guess it's true. Girls really do flock to the bad boys.

Flo would've been teasing right about now, but her attention had been stripped away from Jazmine by Job's appearance. UV really glittered her up! The tips of her wings, the trim of her skirt, even her cheeks had a bit of sparkle to them! Her panda hat and really cool eyes helped Flo identify this person as Job from the cafe. Now that they were standing side by side, Flo noted that this was yet another person she stood well over a foot over. That did real wonders for the way she viewed herself, but she tried not to let it bother her too much. She didn't want other people worrying about her.

"Hi, Job! You went with UV too, didn't you? Isn't she the coolest?" Flo hugged her staff close to her body as she started gushing again.

Makeup Room

For a moment, Jackie went completely quiet.

She didn't really look pissed off, or embarrassed, or anything. She just sorta...shut down for a moment. After a little silence, though, she finally spoke up.

"Mother and Father...they don't talk to me anymore. Or...really pay any attention to me. At all." She leaned her head back in the chaid. "When I was growin' up it wasn't like that. They took care of me and treated me as important and stuff. And they were really concerned with my...image. And...ngh."

She started to reach into her pocket, and took out her wallet. She paused for a moment to reflect on what she was about to do. This was...this was kinda getting out of hand, wasn't it? Yeah, it was going well, but now Jackie was spouting out her feelings about her parents, and about to show this girl something she never willingly showed anyone before, not even her bandmates. Was this something she really wanted to do...? Well...it was too late now, wasn't it? She took a risk here, based on just a vague hunch of potential happiness. And she came this far already, so...might as well go all the way on it.

She pulled a photo out from her wallet and handed it to Gwen.

"This was, uh...this was me back in middle school," Jackie clarified. "Or...I guess this is 'Jacqueline Pemberly'. I don't really consider us the same person anymore...we've got barely anythin' in common. I'm some...punk asshole that picks fights and ditches school. Jacqueline was a quiet prep-school goody-two-shoes that was really proper and polite and...more liked."

Jackie sighed and gripped the arms of the chair again. "My parents gave a crap about me back when I was...Jacqueline. But some time during middle school, they just...gave up on me! And I don't know what the hell I did! They wouldn't talk to me or acknowledge me or..." She sighed again. "They even stopped botherin' to get mad at me when I did stupid crap...like cut my hair, or pierce my ears, or get a tattoo...or listen to rock with the volume at max. They just...stopped givin' a crap, and I don't know why."

She let out a loud groan. "Guuuh, well eff 'em, that's what I say! Eff them and eff their impossible standards, and their stupid money, and their stupid everythin'!"

Gwendalyn obtained an embarrassing picture!

She knew things were going to get serious, but her heart nearly went still when she saw Jackie's reaction.

Ooooohhh... now I've done it. I overstepped my boundaries and now she's probably gonna yell at me and she's really loud and that'll bring attention and I'm the only other one in here and people will wonder what I did and it'll look so bad and I'll lo-

But she never yelled. She explained how her parents left her completely alone... surprisingly casually. Well, maybe not casually, but Gwen was certainly expecting her to be a lot louder about it than she was. Jackie handed her a picture of, well, she said it was her, though one had to look close to see the similarities. Most notably, the demeanor, eyes, and freckles were the same, though Jacqueline looked like a completely different person than Jackie. Honestly, Gwen thought Jackie was doing herself disservice by changing her appearance to what it was, though she realized now wasn't the time to bring it up.

"You're just... giving this to me? Seems really personal, but it's not like me to turn down a gift." She listened intently to Jackie's situation with her parents, in stone silence. "Maybe it wasn't something you did. The world keeps turning, times change, and we all have to change with them. I don't know what exactly happened, but maybe you or your parents just... didn't... Y'know?" Gwen averted her gaze for a moment, let out a small sigh, and sat down in the chair next to Jackie.

"Gonna be real here. I was, like, the exact opposite of you. Little UV was such a wild child. Heck. 'Wild child' is an understatement! I was a monster when I was little! I remember vividly when I was seven, I kept stepping on my pet cat's tail, because I thought the sounds it made when I did were funny. I got chewed out for that one real good. I was always the loud one, never did what I was told, went out of my way to make giant messes and see if I could weasel my way out of the punishment... I can't even remember why, but I never succeeded. I think my family's still afraid of me! I don't keep in touch with most of them, anymore. I just have too many other things to worry about, be it album sales, practicing new songs, scouring news sites... or barging into water fights! Though I do call my brother every now and again. Teehee! He supports me, though he'll never admit it..." Gwen's eyes trailed off to the side again, before she released another sigh.

"Man. All that, and look at me now! People say I'm one of the nicest, most fun people in the world now! Time does weird things... Man, that got kinda heavy. Remember when we were doing makeup and chatting about music? That was fun, right?! I need you to hold still for me." UV started giggling again, and got up from her chair and started carefully freehanding a second star on Jackie's right cheek. "So, this might just be me searching for that faint trace of an overlap, but who all are your favorite groups? Other than yourself, I mean!" She stopped drawing a moment so Jackie could talk.

The dorms:

They had arrived. What will people say when they see one person with green oil pastel in her hair?

“I’ll attend, just gotta throw something together.”

“Oh, I’ll attend.” She started to play with her hair. “Ah’ just need to see if Ah’ have the supplies that Ah’ need for my, um, idea.” Isabelle realized that she didn’t actually have an idea yet. Even though she knew that was a problem, she just kept getting distracted by the green streak in Lia’s hair.

Think. When did I get oil pastel on my hand? It must’ve been when I was drawing earlier. Crap! I was playing with my own hair earlier! And I am playing with my hair now. There must be some in my hair as well. All those people I talked to earlier. What must they think of me? I must look extremely dumb. She just started to laugh.

Name: Thomas Evans
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Likes: Edgar Allen Poe, books, gargoyles, candlelight, small spaces, horses, horse-drawn carriages, horror
Dislikes: Fire, large rooms, bright lights, dogs, cats, fantasy
Appearance: 5’6” He has green eyes with perpetual bags underneath and somewhat long unkempt black hair. A bit pale. He wears black. Black socks, black shoes, black dress pants, gray shirt, black tie, and a black vintage jacket. All of his clothes are covered in dust. He has a pet raven named Lenore that he carries everywhere. Lenore is very well trained and sits on his shoulder like a parrot.
Backstory: He lives in an old mansion that has been in the family for generations. It was not one of those mansions that usually stand alone in the middle of nowhere. You know those ones from horror movies where the protagonist shows up, most of the time during a thunderstorm. This one was situated in the middle of the city that he lived in. Of course it had many rooms, but his favorite was the library. It was rarely used so there were cobwebs all over the place and one of those lingering smells, something like rotting books and anything else that belongs in a library used in a horror movie. Of course, the bookshelves had various statues on them. Mostly gargoyles and other things that terrify the mind and draw fear into the hearts of men. Naturally the lights were burned out as well because the room was mostly unused so the butler didn’t bother to replace the lightbulbs when they burned out. Every time Thomas went in there he brought a candlestick and several matches. One day he wandered into the furthest corner of the library to find a little space, similar to a reading nook. Every day he would pick a book to read in that nook. Most of the time he would read old horror stories. One day he read a short story titled “The Tell-tale Heart”. He enjoyed that story so much that he went on to read the rest of Poe’s short stories. That is when he became obsessed with Poe.
He has alway had a hard time relating to and meeting other people. Mainly because he would never leave the library. Reads constantly by candlelight in a dark room from after breakfast to late at night. All of this helped to make him avoid people in general. He left the house only once. On that day he got into a fight with his family and bought a biography about Edgar Allen Poe. The fight ended with him yelling “I will stay in that library. The only way I will not is if I have no way to return here.”
His parents sent him to Shelvington for two reasons. They were worried for Thomas’s wellbeing. He’d eat or sleep when it was absolutely necessary to do so, preferring to stay in his corner with his books and gargoyles. The second reason was that the was the last link in the family name and they were not ready to have the line end.

Makeup Room

"Hey, havin' anyone to still be on yer side is always nice," Jackie told Gwen. "It's cool of yer bro to be there for ya. Mine doesn't really say much to me, either...I think the geezers doubled down on him after I got scraped to the side." She seemed...surprisingly serene now, and even had a gentle smile. "Heh...sorry if this sounds like, insensitive or anythin', but...it's kinda relievin' to hear all that. To kinda see someone in a similar position is...nice, I guess. Like, kindred spirits or whatever they call it? I-Iunno."

She gave Gwen a grin. One bigger than she had really shown at this school so far. "Well, who gives a damn about the past, eh? Eff it! The future's finally startin' to look kinda nice, so might as well keep our eyes on that!"

She leaned back in her chair as Gwen started drawing the second star. "Heh...g-guess that sounds kinda dumb. I've never been much of a lyricist, I guess." She thought for a moment about her favorite bands. "Uuuuh...AC/DC, Aerosmith, Queen, Gorillaz...and the Beatles are all pretty high up there for me."

Outside Dorms

When Isabelle began laughing Lia laughed too. And probably just as nervously, even if for different reasons.

"Haha?" Lia chuckles awkwardly. "Ha?"

The laughs hurt for some reason, giving Lia a strange pain in her chest that she desperately wishes gone. Her mouthing unknowingly bending downward.

"Uhm. Anyway." Lia asks trying to get off the awkward laughs, "Do you need any help carrying your bags up or anyth'n?"

Outside Gym

Job bows to Flo, saying; "Hello again Miss Flo."

Upon closer inspection, Job notices Flo had also changed attire... and everyone else seemed to be wearing unusual clothing too.

Were these.... costumes?

"You, have a good costume." Job says attempting to issue a complement, muttering, "I think."

Upon hearing Flo's question Job tilts her head in confusion.

"UV? I have no idea who that is, but I was helped by Miss....Bright I believe was her name."
Never speak in absolutes. (Which is a round about of saying I came back. Hi.)
