Edwam hadn't chosen the best moment to spring this on them. That, Haru could say for sure. Nevertheless, she was glad -- glad to be with her family one last time. That, too, Haru could say for sure.

So all in all, a net gain.

She nodded to Edwam, compulsively — to focus on what little time they had left... that was the best way to handle this. It would be easier to talk about this all a little later on. For now, she'd had her fill of absurdity.

Haru followed Edwam and Mizuki through the door.

The group enters a hallway, and takes the northern door to find what appears to be a home theater. On the north wall, between the two windows, is a large TV, with a DVD system beneath it. A low, long shelf filled with DVDs (including a copy of "The Room") runs along the north wall below the windows. Large speakers are set up next to the TV, with a couple of smaller speakers mounted on the walls at other points. A black leather couch with pillows runs along the south wall. The two windows each have heavy curtains over them that can completely block out the light, allowing a view of the ocean when they’re open but complete darkness when they’re closed. By the western wall is another black statue, facing away from the windows, of a creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle.

Mizuki exits the room and goes west in the hallway instead.

The group arrives in a grand, elegant room. Or at least, it used to be. Probably. There are plush couches and armchairs and some hardwood cabinets and tables that used to have some decorative objects, along with some end tables with lamps on them and a turned-over chess table. Unfortunately, the entire north part of the room has been completely blown out. The room is chilly from the outside air, and the smell of salt water fills your nostrils. There is nothing left in the area closest to the explosion, the center of which seems to be designated by a black circle in the ground in the north part of the room. The furniture closer to the explosion has been badly damaged, and even the furniture on the other side of the room has been completely covered and stained with ash. Looking out to the left only has the sea, but to the right you can see the backside of the mansion, including some segments covered in ivy, making it appear older than it actually probably is.

And so, they finally arrived at the room where it all happened. The room where the explosion happened. The room where Damien's body was.

It was time to start investigating.

Mizuki looked at the central area of the explosion.

"I, uh, guess we found the 'goddamn' room." Weird, how quickly they'd found the place after Edwam's comment.

It was certainly a scene. There was no mistaking it -- this was what they'd been looking for. Given the other rooms - with their extravagent statues, treasure, and suits of armor - this room seemed almost humble to her by comparison. At first, at least. Minus the obvious.

While Mizuki occupied herself with the explosion's origin, Haru wandered over to the cabinets. Here, she first checked for anything that might not have caught her attention the first time. While she was at it, she looked over the chessboard and the lamps, too. Did anything she saw seem (relatively) undisturbed by the explosion? Something that wasn't covered in ash, or that didn't appear to be damaged may raise some questions.

The central area of the explosion is on the north side of the room. You approach carefully, but the ground seems to still hold. There is a darkened indentation on the ground that likely demarcates the center of the explosion. Pretty much nothing is left in this spot, and the damage seems to get less severe the further from this spot you move.

There's nothing particularly interesting in the cabinets. The lamps have been turned over, presumably from the force of the blast, and some have been broken. The chess table has a drawer with a set of chess pieces in it that seem fine. The only things you can find that aren't damaged or covered in ash are things inside other pieces of furniture, such as the chess pieces in the chess table.

Haru steps through the Northern part of the room to the outside world and takes a look around. What can she get close to and examine in further detail here, if anything?

The room extends to a sort of outcropping on the cliff face. In the room, there's not much left; this is where the explosion was centered, and it seems to have basically destroyed everything. To the north is just the open ocean. To the west, you could step out over what used to be the outer wall and onto the lawn. The lawn extends some yards out, and then it turns into a forest for as far as you can see. To the east you can see the backside of the house, but what's beyond that is blocked by the house itself.

The chess table is a table made from a heavy, dark wood, with the board supported by a single elegantly carved pole upon a square base. The table also has two drawers, one on each side, and within each drawer is a set of either white or black chess pieces. The top, naturally, contains an eight by eight checkered grid.
