You're right, spd. The individual cases and mysteries probably WILL be cool and fun. Here's the thing. I don't care.

Good individual cases and mysteries don't cut it for me anymore. GK2's brilliant story structure and overarching plot should have been an evolution that carried over to the main series. Which... it didn't, and not taking that approach was highly detrimental.

GK2 didn't just blow me away with how well each case connected into the next, it taught me how tired I am of filler cases. How there's really no reason every case can't be vital to the plot in some way or form. How that's things how SHOULD have been done this entire time.

What people don't get is that I wasn't immediately turned off from DD when BP gave his simple review of "it's bad", because that's not what he said. I didn't even interpret that to BE what he said. I took it to mean he enjoyed it in his own way. BP's exact words were, and I quote, "GS5 has great characters and mysteries, but suffers from a mediocre and formulaic plot." The latter? THAT's the part that turned me very highly negative of DD, GS5, whatever you please. It's extremely disappointing to me that Capcom hasn't learned at all from what I would call a literal masterpiece and absolute perfection of the AA formula, and instead chooses to make cases feel loose instead of tightly binding them together. And after GK2 managed to make each and every case crucial to it's main plot... that's just not an excuse for filler cases anymore.

If you're satisfied with good filler cases, by all means, have at it. But I simply can't stand the direction the series has chosen for itself after GS5, and that's why I'm done with it.

Spoiler : tinfoil hats on :
I'd lie if I say that I'm not a bit sceptical on this whole country of Kurain that no one from Fey family ever mentioned about. I guess Kurain village being a settlement from there makes sense, but after that it seems to be a retconning issue.
(It gives me flashbacks to the infamous Land of Shura/Asura twist from Hokuto no Ken 2)
However, in good hands, it can be turned into something original, as different clans of Kurain can specialise in developing various spiritual abilities. What I really hope for, is that they won't go further and Ami Fey's lineage won't prove to have special significance, i.e. the Fey clan won't suddenly happen to be true successors of throne or something. Let's just allow Maya to become the next Master of Kurain Channeling Technique and let princess Leifa Kurain be the princess. I may be hypersensitive over this, as the only thing I've got is a bad apprehension, but I wish there were no real meaning behind obscuring the Founder's face in the promo trailer (and Bokuto saying that Maya looks like their princess may also be a case of bad foreshadowing - after all, CAPCOM is known for throwing off-hand supposedly insignificant dialogue lines).
I hadn't known there were so many idiots in the world until I started using the Internet.

Spoiler : 5th case name :
Especially amusing since it's once again the fifth case. Together with DD, this is establishing a trend where the final case rips off the name of an entry from the Neverending-Turnabout competition.

Hmmm, having watched a lot of livestreamed and such about it
I can say it does seem to be a step-up from DD
Spoiler : moosic and case spoilers :
Cross-Examination themes are beast tho
In all honesty, Case 4 is the only TRUE filler case in the game. And even then, it's connected to the rest of the game with a mutual theme it feels like

Demo's up. It's pretty fun.
Spoiler : demo spoilers stream-of-conciousness thing :
the new "witness testimony" and "cross-examination" animations are neat
the music doesn't seem too bad either
the insight system is pretty interesting
the return of the strike system from AA1 is a nice change
I also like the potential of a court that's even more anti-defence than usual
gaspen's presence seems especially forced this time round
not sure about the new prosecutor - in my mind it makes more sense for the seance princess girl to be the prosecutor, but what do I know
all in all it's got me pretty pumped for the main game

give it time (you'll hate it by the end)

also nayuta is by far the best part of the game, so don't worry about him

I've been playing the game. I want to ask who else thinks that Case 4 was a big load of bull.
