Re: [DINE] The Den of Deception

I stepped into the treasure room - having a few things to check in mind.
  • First things first - I went to make sure that there was blood on the spikes placed in the half of the coffin that could be opened, in order to confirm that the coffin had indeed been closed at some point while the body was still in there.
  • I then put on gloves and used the forensics kit. I did luminol testing around the carpet in the treasure room to see if the only traces of blood were the ones we were able to see normally.
  • Next, I examined the treasure room in hopes of seeing if there were any arrows.
  • While I was at it, I wanted to take a look and see if there were any other feathers in the room. Or anything that the feather might've originated from.
  • I then examined the crossbow one of the suits of armor was holding.
  • I then wanted to make sure - if I could tell with my limited expertise, at least - that every wound on the body was caused by the spikes in the maiden.
  • Following that, I used the fingerprint powder on the lid of the coffin and looked for prints. While I was aware there would be some prints to be expected, I was also aware that there was a chance we'd find prints that had no place to be there. What prints I found, I collected and stored.
  • I took some photographs for documentation with my phone. Hopefully it would be good enough for the police.
  • Finally, with the help of Yukina and Meme, I attempted to pull the body off the spikes and bring him to the floor next to the maiden, in the interest of examining the body from its back. While carrying, I tried to note how difficult Gabriel would've been for a person to carry.
  • Finally, was the body warm? Signs of livor mortis?
...My memories of that life might've all been fake, but that doesn't mean their imprint failed to give me the experience I needed to be a noteworthy detective.

  • Yes, the spikes on the inner half of the lid are covered in blood.
  • You don't find hidden blood with luminol.
  • There are some arrowheads in one of the cases, but no arrows
  • In the cases, there are some pieces of armor that have feathers as decoration, but none of them seem like the same type of feather that was found.
  • The crossbow does not seem to be functional.
  • You don't have the expertise... plus there's a lot of wounds, so checking all of them will take quite a bit of time.
  • You find one set of fingerprints on the side of the lid of the iron maiden, where it's opened. You can't seem to find any other prints.
  • Photographs taken.
  • Gabriel was... not petite. Based on their physiques, working alone, Asher could probably carry him. Maybe Christian or Seth could manage too, although they wouldn't have a fun time. You doubt Nao, Rachel, or Anne could manage.
  • The body is cool. Gabriel's fingers and feet are livid.

"Hmm..."

Mizuki takes the prints of Gabriel and compares them to the fingerprints found on the coffin lid.

"Hmm... We should probably try and get fingerprints of everyone here, right?"

"We probably will, but this fingerprint is most likely Christian's. Remember - he's the one who opened the maiden after noticing the strange smell."

CRACK

Suddenly, the light above the second iron maiden on the eastern wall explodes.

"...Huh.

That's odd."

I decided to check the light and figure out what might've happened to it.

Afterwards, I took a look at the second casket and opened it.

"Yeah, that makes sense."

The light proceeded to explode.

"Hmm... Spooky tricks, eh?"

The bulb went splodey-splodey. Edwam can't figure anything out himself...

From the outside, the second casket looks the same as the first iron maiden. Opening it up reveals... layers and layers of spikes, but nothing else.

I wanted to take a look at the two heads above the two caskets.

"But hmm... If the light exploded... Maybe there was an electrical surge or something? Lights don't just... explode."

Mizuki tries to find Nao and asks her if there's a place where the generator is, or something.

Spoiler : DWaM :
The two heads are stuffed deer heads, each mounted on an elliptical piece of wood. They both feature a few inches of neck before reaching at the head, looking straight ahead. The two deer look almost identical, except the simple pair of antlers on the head by the iron maiden with the corpse denotes it as a stag, whereas the lack of antlers on the head above the eastern casket means it is a doe.
Spoiler : Kwando+Spyro :
In order to avoid dealing with the other NPC, Haru and Mizuki bring Nao out into the hall and make their query.

"We do have a back-up power generator for emergencies, but I believe it's not operational at the moment, and we are still using the main grid," she replied.
