Re: Singidava's spriting tutorial (with GIMP)
I have a tablet, but I think it might be broken... I hate when this happens... I'm planning to get a new one in the near future anyway. When my dad's job is secured... maybe... I don't have faith in my drawing abilities though, but I still need sprites for my trial... Curse this stupid brain of mine... Hopefully this tutorial will make it a little easier. Thanks.
Sometimes I wonder if I even know what the hell I'm doing...

Remember that if you doubt your skills you can always trace the pose from a photograph and just alter the looks. By the way, which tablet do you own (mine is Wacom Intuos3 A5)?

How do I get the URL so I can add my sprites to my game?

Image hosting sites like Photobucket and whatnot.
Nothing about the guide though?

...And after all the effort I put to the Art Questions and Answers thread people still ask completely irrelevant questions in invidual guides... DD:

Here I answer to the questions that are related to the actual topic (= spriting in GIMP). Please post the other questions to the right topic, even if it is a bit new.

Did you use a tablet for the rough sketch? It looks like a drawing that was scanned.

That's because it IS a scanned drawing.ZombieGun wrote:Did you use a tablet for the rough sketch? It looks like a drawing that was scanned.
Singi uses both traditional and digital means to make sprites (and so do I, for what it's worth).

That's what I was thinking. Thank god, my tablet drawings looks 20 times less better then my traditional

Same here. It just doesn't feel as... precise when I'm using anything other than a pencil. The only thing I can do with my computer is trace over lines and pixel-edit.ZombieQ wrote:That's what I was thinking. Thank god, my tablet drawings looks 20 times less better then my traditional
Drawing a neat sketch? Oh heck no.

So true. xD
Though (after some practice) I'm actually able to draw decent sketches with it, but it's still not the same as a good old-fashioned pencil sketch.
It's still a pretty handy tool though.

Funnily enough my tablet drawings are better than my pencil drawings.
…Then again, that really isn't saying much.

Ah, it's great to see I can create sprites so easily by drawing! Drawing is no problem for me, but I was wondering just how I could do custom sprites. This was very helpful. I use Paint Tool Sai for most of my stuff, but I think it should work fine.
Heh, pencil does allow more control and detail, but after I got used to the tablet, I couldn't live without the undo button anymore.

I checked this thread before actually posting stuff. Gotta say, a nice tutorial that has taught me some new tricks. Keep it up :3
