Probably because it's not exactly the best creed for any situation? Nor the creed of the show itself?

According to some EQD polls, a majority (~55%) of fans wouldn't have liked the show nearly as much had the characters been human. That might be part of the backlash here.

However, calling it some sort of atrocious betrayal on the part of the people making it is going way too far. It's quite evident in the trailer that they put a lot of effort into the animation. (I'd say the quality is around that of Season 1, which makes sense, since they had to make these puppets and backgrounds from scratch all over again.) Plus, some of the humor does seem quite hilarious, what with Twilight having to adapt to the human world, amongst other things. Even the villain seems pretty interesting... Still, even though I'm actually quite okay with humanizations, I will admit that the supposed love interest and Spike being a dog had me a bit worried... at first.

But the thing is, how seriously are the creators going to take the situation? It's going to be a one-time thing, after all, so they can basically just go into that genre, squeeze the humor that they can from it, then run away from it as fast as they can. And while this seems like more of a thing for a fan to do, not the show itself, keep in mind that this is a spin-off made-for-TV movie. Sure, it'll be presented in small theaters here and there, but how big of a deal could this possibly be if it's a flop? People will make fun of it, then forget about it.

Honestly, while I understand the negative backlash, it tends to get a tad annoying: Isn't this the fandom that watched a show that a majority thought they would have no chance of liking? While the trailer isn't the most fantastic thing ever, neither were the trailers for the second and third season finales, and those turned out... Well, more epic and enjoyable than people first thought, at least. Maybe the same will be true here?...

... Or maybe it won't. Like I've said, if it flops, then it really shouldn't be that big of a deal. If failure is the chosen destiny for this spin-off, then people will watch it, make fun of it, then forget about it.

Pretty much.

I was just pointing out that it's not exactly hypocritical that bronies aren't "loving and tolerating" when it's not something most of them did anyway, if paid any heed to at all.

Question:

What is your favorite non-pony race (dragons, griffons, etc.) in the franchise?

Mine are minotaurs, btw.

Think that's why so many relationships fail, because people wind up forcing themselves to find good in the other person, play up who they are to appear more attractive to them... but well... real love is being yourself, with someone who cares about you and accepts you for who you are.

I'd say G1's human characters(In the franchise means I can use any race from any generation), mostly because of The Movie's witches.
I love all generations of My Little Pony and I'm proud of it! Paste this into your sig if you are too!

I saw EG, and quite frankly, I kind of like it.

The human versions of the Mane Six are all very sympathetic and easy to emotionally connect with. Flash Sentry (a.k.a. "Brad") even gets a couple of noteworthy moments. Sunset Shimmer, however, is definitely the weakest main antagonist thus far in the FIM-verse; not going to explain why, watch the movie and see for yourself.
