Go (Board game)

Post by The Fury Wraith »

Considering Go's getting a bit more popular on AAO and I really needed to break my infinite long ''Not making topics'' record here, I figured I made a topic about this. Saves having to post about it in the ToR all the time.

So yeah, discuss your Go matches and challenge AAO members for a Go game here~! Don't know anything about Go? Then...

Play Go here!!

Learn Go here!

Guess that about sums it up. Oh and here is a list of known Go players on AAO. If you play Go, please tell me and I'll add you to the list.

Go Players
Spoiler : :
Blackrune (2 Dan!! (?))
Singidava
The Fury Wraith
Zombie
Gombarry
Mono the Meerp (''player'')
Rankings

Rankings of AAO members. The rankings are decided by how many games you've played and how many times you've won. The more matches you play and win, the higher your rank. How about beating everyone above you and aim for the top~? You want to be number 1. Short and simple enough for you? It's going to be a long hard road... But who knows? Could kick butt, could be dangerous, could totally suck. Let the bloodshed/eating begin!
Spoiler : :
1. Singidava W3/L1
Vs. Blackrune (Won)
Vs. Fury (Won)
Vs. Zombie (Lost)
Vs. Fury [3 stone handicap for Fury] (Won)

2. Blackrune W2/L1
Vs. Fury (Won)
Vs. Mono [9 stone handicap for Mono] (Won)
Vs. Singi (Lost)

3. Zombie W1/L0
Vs. Singi (Won)

4. The Fury Wraith W1/L3
Vs. Blackrune (Lost)
Vs. Singi (Lost)
Vs. Gombarry (Won)
Vs. Singi [3 stone handicap for Fury] (Lost)

5. Gombarry W0/L1
Vs. Fury (Lost)

6. Mono the Meerp W0/L1
Vs. Rune [9 stone handicap for Mono] (Lost)

And I'm sure no one minds if we also talk about Hikaru no Go on the side here~ You can't talk about it without mentioning go after all~

Anyways, maybe we should have some sort of record of our AAO matches? So, I've played at least against Rune (won), Fury (won giving him 3 stones handicap) and Zombie (lost).

I am still a beginner, though I've no idea about my exact rank.

Looks like I just did... (not talk about HnG in the opening post, I mean) Contradiction?

And sure as if keeping track of dem players wasn't bad enough! D:
I'll just make a list of ego boasting rankings then. :P

Bridge? I know the rules but... Let's face it, I'll never remember all those pacts which cards means what to your teammate.

Anyway, back on topic, goproblems.com anyone?

Oh, and kwando, you should play yourself too since you always come to watch the matches anyway. :P

How about the link in the first post? The one where it says "Learn Go here!" and then you can go to goproblems.com if you don't feel confident enough to go out and play someone right away.

Looks cool, but isn't Go a Japanese facsimile of chess? This looks like Othello (though I forget its other name, fairly sure it wasn't Go).

... Still, love playing this game. I may join if anyone is interested in playing me.

... Looked it up, and it appears you're correct- and that Go is the actual name. But if that's Go, what am I thinking of? It has pentagonal pieces, with an acute angle at the top.

Some wacky Tetris ripoff where the screen is tilted and pieces can't disappear?
