You have a choice, only that the situation and your mood will favorise precise choices more than others.

What has happened has happened. No real point in thinking about what it could have been.
Besides, changes in life aren't determined by small choices alone. Fate also plays a large role. We will never know what choices we make will have impact on our life until it happened. Taking a look at Dypo's example...
We don't know what's going to happen in the future, so we can't know what choices will do what in our life. All we can do really is make the choices we think is right.

Sure, your choice of swimming to the island made a huge impact here on your life, but what if that person wouldn't have been on that island in the first place? Your choice of swimming to that island or not would not have made a difference. You can't simply choose for that person to be on that island you wanted to swim to. Fate just had it in store for you that the person was in fact there. You couldn't have known this. You are trying to decide whether or not you'll try and swim to that island just across the shores when you're on the beach. You decide to do so. On the island, you meet someone, and decide to start a conversation. It turns out you're extremely similar and you find yourself wanting to keep in touch. And you do.
This someone you've met someday ends up being your husband or wife.
We don't know what's going to happen in the future, so we can't know what choices will do what in our life. All we can do really is make the choices we think is right.

Re: Philosophical debate: Can an action change your life?
An action can possibly change your life. It just depends on the severity. For Example, Should I Smoke and Drink Alcohol? Or should I just continue with what I have now. Smoking and Drinking is a severe topic and could (and most likely will) either lead you to either prison or an early death. However if you ask yourself "Should I pick the blue or the red crayon for this art piece I'm making." It shouldn't really effect your life seriously.
I also agree with Dypo that sometimes small decisions could change your life entirely. But I also agree with fury that something like Dypo's hypothetical situation could just happen by mere chance. To be honest, I just believe most of the things that happen to us are just pure luck or coincidence.

Life is made up entirely out of small
decisions, made one after another.
One decision could easily influence your next
decision, which in turn influences ever decision you have
made, or ever will make.

Well I like asking these kinda questions. And i think that its true a small action can dramatically change the world now it might not change you directly but eventually it would work its way to somehow influencing your life.

Yeah that's kind of what I think, no matter how small the decisions are (as Ryu said). The Crusader Of 42 wrote:Life is made up entirely out of small

I kinda believe the contrary. I don't really think that little decision like deciding to wear your favorite watch today is really all that important. If it does, then you just got lucky. I thinks it's he big decisions that are going to affect your life the most.
