On the 6th of February, 1952, King George VI passed away in his sleep, with Heiress Presumptive Princess Elizabeth accending to the throne and becoming Queen Elizabeth II. It has been sixty years since her accession and in 2012, we celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, although the official celebrations won't be until June/July!

This thread is to discuss HM and the British Royal Family and well, anything related to it and the Diamond Jubilee! Even if you aren't a subject of HM, post anyway!

My sister has a poster of all the British Monarchs up on her wall. It's huge.

Alas, Lizzie (a pair of tough guards with brass knuckles has asked me to state that her name is Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second) hasn't surpassed Queen Victoria yet!

Her Majesty is so awesome. I can't wait for the jubilee celebrations in June. I'd love to meet her one day, but, at the same time, I'd be too embarrassed and shy. How are you meant to speak to the Queen?

That was her actual birthday, but we celebrate on her official birthday in the summer. All monarchs have the same official birthday.

Only the unmarked swans. I always imagine the Queen just walking around, seeing an unmarked swan, and going "I'm having that." and just grabbing it and running off.
