That was suppose to be Voldemort... I can't believe it... Voldemort taken down by a nanny...

I didn't think it was great. Compared to China, every country's opening ceremony is crap.

I can't believe you all didn't like it. It was awesome! :D I loved how the tree flew into the air and coal miners came out of the pit underneath. But the best bit was when the Olympic rings were forged.

And the design of the flame cauldron was brilliant. Each country has a flame representing it, and they all converge to form one big flame. That's got to be better than one big fat cauldron in each previous Olympics had. And the fact that it was lit -- not by one famous person -- but by a few generation of young hopefuls was just inspiring.

What do you mean? She always has that expression when watching any performance. :P

You liked it because you know the history. Not everyone would know what was going on because we wouldn't know the history as much as you do. The most understandable part was the industrial revolution because that happened around the world. I needed the announcers to explain the rest to me (oh, god, those announcers... we are such terrible people... XD)

Also, I didn't like the fact that one circle of people would be doing one thing, and right next to them, another circle of people would be doing another thing. I would call that "organized mess"... :\

I did see the whole thing, though, and I did like the cauldron part. The cauldron and the industrial parts are the ones I enjoyed most. The James Bond and Mr. Bean parts gave me a few chuckles. Beijing still rocking, though.

I agree that the opening ceremony was pretty meh...

I started watching it at the part with... the children's hospital or orphanage or something? Because everyone knows that those are a ton of fun.

Then I think it was less "Music Through the Ages", and more "A Tribute to the Fashion Failures of Previous Generations". And the thing with the girl who loses her phone and the guy who picks it up was just silly.

The Mr. Bean bit was funny. Well, the orchestra bit. His daydream within it was predictable and boring.

At that point I turned my attention to something more worthwhile (VLR :awesome: )

But what about the very start and the very end? They were the best bits!

To his credit, it was by like a hair.

Also, everyone getting on that Ye girl's case because she's doing well. Just because she broke the world record doesn't automatically mean she's taking steroids.

EDIT: YES WE FINALLY GOT A GOLD MEDAL.

I had a brilliant day watching the Womens Hockey on Sunday. It was hiliarious how they literally stole ALL the England football chants and replaced the "ENG-LAND!" with "GB!".
I also got footage of the BBC interviewing the torch bearers/apparently legendary ice skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean UP CLOSE because their seats were near mine in the Riverbank arenaNOW I HAVE A CHANCE TO GET VIEWS ON MY YOUTUBE ACCOUNT BWAHAHAH

Just watched the Men's Singles Tennis Semifinal Match 1: Roger Federer (SUI/Switzerland) VS. Juan Martin del Potro (ARG/Argentina)
Spoiler : :
Damn, 4 hour 25 minute match, and that third match would not stop. 19-17 on the third to Federer. I have to hand it to both of them: that was some high level play at the ending hour. I feel bad for del Potro... He's got a mixed doubles match right after this one.
