Would anyone like a 100GB Dropbox for 3 months for free?

Post by Jean Of mArc »

Hey everyone,

I'm a Dropbox Pro customer, so I pay $100/year for 100GB on Dropbox.

Anyway, I just got a coupon from them to give to a friend to give them a Dropbox Pro account (100GB) for free for 3 months.

I don't want to waste it, but I'm not sure who needs it. Is there anyone here who would be able to make good use of this space?

First one to need it and respond gets it.

(Meph: Wasn't sure where to put this. Feel free to move it.)

(Does this mean that after 3 months the files are removed? xD)

Good question; I'm not absolutely sure. They are probably not removed, but that your Dropbox will stop syncing until you put it back to however much space you had before.

So for example, if you use 50GB, and after the trial you go back to 2GB, Dropbox won't sync changes to the files until you move 48GB onto a hard disk (or however else you store them).

I don't think anyone would be able to fill it in three months (so good luck to anyone that would like to try :XD: ). But I've always found Dropbox to be a rip-off these days. I get 25GB on SkyDrive for free, and I can pay £32 per year to get 100 more GB.

Moved to General Chat.

The difference being that, last time you had me download files on your skydrive, I had to go through 2 or 3 pages to get a download link, when dropbox just gives you direct links - that you can even use on AAO :-P

Yup, and I love the way its client functions, on multiple Operating Systems. I use Ubuntu often, so it works well for me.

I agree that it is more expensive, but it's been worth it, in my opinion.

They'll never do direct public links. They're too concerned about piracy. :XD:

Yeah, direct public links are on their way out, which is why I'm really glad to have made a DB account before they stop supporting it for new members. :)

Really, they're removing public links ?
That's sad :-/

I mean, where are AAO trial authors going to host their custom content, huh ?
That'll definitely become troublesome, it's becoming hard to find reliable ways to host files...

@Jean, Meph, I thought they already stopped supporting that feature for new members after a July date?
