Turnabout Revivals is... the last review before we can announce the results, so I'll deliberately write it in oblong, really stretched-out purple prose.
Spoiler : Spoiler-Free Summary :
Turnabout Revivals is... a thing.
Spoiler : Spoilerous Summary :
Turnabout Revivals is... a grimdark thing with time travel that fits into canon while totally rewriting it. I won't write a scene-by-scene shortened content of this one. DWaM trials are pretty well-liked, so anyone that'd read this summary would play the trial, as well. The same can't be said about less well-known authors, so that's why a more thorough summary was needed there. But not here. You'll play it anyway.
Spoiler : VERY SPOILEROUS Review :
Story Concept:
"Do you have an interesting, engaging, innovative and logical story? Are the characters interesting?"
Most characters are canon, and of the more... normal sort. It's always harder to faithfully capture their interactions than to create new people with new, sillier personalities. But DWaM does exactly that. His Apollo really shines, but grimdark!Phoenix, not-so-serious!Edgeworth and Ema were also great. Zak didn't really have much personality in the canon games, either, so him turning into Generic Grimdark Faceless Basically Omnipotent Mastermind Rich Dude is not that much of a stretch.

The plot was also great. Tying anything up with the canon games so that it fits is a hell of a job, and the absolute madman did it.

Rating: 9 for 9rimdark

Story Execution:
"Is the story well-paced? Is the dialogue and narration well-written and natural-sounding?"
Here is the trial's great strength, and the one thing that was missing from a lot of entries.
Most entries had a plot and a plot twist. Maybe two. DWaM's had plot twists every five minutes, and a lot more nearing the end. It's important to keep the player constantly on edge, and this is what DWaM excels in.
Also in grimdark dialogue.

And all of those easter eggs... none of them was too contrived, but they explain important backstory. Even the alternate ending, totally different from the normal ending, made logical sense.

Rating: 10ok at all these points

Graphics & Music:
"Are the graphics and music well-done? Do they fit the characters, situations and atmosphere?"
The graphical assets and music were on fleek, as expected. The nighttime detention center was an especially nice touch - I was expecting similarly subtle touches from clcKing's entry. Also using official art and cutting characters out of cutscenes to put together graphics? Genius.

Rating: 8reat job, but where are the cheesy 5-min-long Umineko .svg's?

Technical Perfection:
"Has your trial been tested carefully, with few bugs, typos or grammar mistakes?"
cut to ma
having to declare
new attorney
Courtroom no. (not No.)
Autopsy Reported updated
Edgeweorth

Also you're redirected to the attic ending after the game over.
Anyway, rest of it was fine.

Rating: 7his is a fair score for this, I think

Gameplay:
"Is the gameplay fair, interesting and enjoyable? Are the puzzles designed and executed well?"
Aside from the odd "present something AND then press a statement" testimonies that really made me think I have to present other stuff, gameplay is fair. And it's enjoyable as heck. Even at the last showdown, selecting wrong answers gets you detailed explanations about why they're wrong.

My only complaint is how ridiculous the solution was compared to how grimdark the whole thing is. Buuut it's explained well and it's not like we're not used to this kind of thing with DWaM, so...

Rating: 8ood lord, are present-and-then-press testimonies the new press-in-order testimonies?

Theme Relevance:
"Is the theme relevant to your story? Is it interpreted in an interesting and innovative way?"
It's kind of a peculiar situation, really. The unreliable narration isn't in this case. Oh, no.
The unreliable narration is in Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice. Yup, DWaM retroactively disputed the validity of Phoenix as the AA:AJ narrator. And that's pretty innovative, even compared to other entries in the list.

Rating: 1nn0vation is important
Overall:
9 + 10 + 8 + 7 + 8 + 10 = 52 / 60 (>8)

A DWaM case with DWaM quality, that fits into the comp theme perfectly. What more could we want?

Oh yeah, anyone who wants their ranking can PM me (or kwando or Dio, I guess) on Discord. I'll probably only get to answering tomorrow though because I'm tired.
