I've realized that the color tag ([#/colour: {whatever}[/#] only works if color is spelled with a U (the British way of spelling it). This may confuse some American users who try and use the tag and it fails since they use the "color" form. I think it'd be a good idea therefore to make it so the spelling "color" was also supported in the tag.

Is there still any interest in this one? I'm not fond of creating two tags that are identical except for a spelling difference.

I will refuse it anyway :-P
Indeed, I don't like maintaining several aliases for the same tag, and I prefer using British spelling.

The correct way to fix the issue is not to require the user to write the tag himself : implement the thing like in V5 which, when some text was selected prior to clicking a colour button, adds the tag around this text.

May I suggest a third option: [#col]. It's shorter, easier to type, quite intuitive, and everyone (including the French) will be pleased.

No, the French wouldn't be pleased. :P

Plus, the tag already exists and is used in V6 trials, so I can't change it - and as I said, I don't want to add additional aliases.

Damnit, you're right. My French is getting seriously broken. C'est la vie.

As a quick note, has anyone tried to use the british spelling for X11 color names using the colo(u)r tag and see if that works? As far as I know, the American spelling works.

What is "our language" here? Are you British or American or from the Shire or whatever?

-- general coding is in British English
-- x11 codes for colo(u)r is in American English, mostly

seems legit.
